FrieAme AU where Friede's a paediatrician and Amethio's a terminally ill inpatient. Friede's in charge of Amethio's care and keeps telling himself not to get attached but oops Friede gets attached. So does Amethio. Contains main character death, obviously!

So I'm kinda toying with the idea of Spinel insisting that Amethio is able to go home for the last few days of his life. Gibeon is opposed (for many reasons) but ends up giving in because he's too worn out to keep arguing with Spinel over it

Spinel wants Amethio to be with his family when he dies, rather than in an unwelcoming hospital room all alone. Gibeon, meanwhile, is convinced that Amethio wouldn't want his family to see him dying and that they should give him some privacy

Once Amethio's home and back in his room, Spinel spends a lot of time with him. He knows Amethio probably isn't conscious enough to be aware that his surroundings have changed, let alone the fact that Spinel's talking to him, but he wants to do it anyway

It takes Gibeon a couple of days before he's able to face Amethio, but he does. Amethio never reacts to anything he says or to any touch, but Gibeon hopes that's because he's comfortable enough to be resting

Maybe Gibeon breaks at the last moment and gives Amethio a hug? But he doesn't know what he's doing since he's never hugged anyone before (other than maybe his wife Idk) and it ends up being extremely awkward

Gibeon is shocked by how thin and cold Amethio is. He held his hand earlier on (the scene where he visits Amethio in hospital) but holding Amethio's body itself is a different experience
