Ame being scared of how intense his feelings for Frie are because like... is love supposed to hurt? Is it supposed to be suffocating? He has no idea, but he hates it. He thought love was meant to be a warm, fuzzy feeling...

Ame ends up asking Spi during one of their talks and Spi... doesn't have an answer. Because he's only ever felt the warm and fuzzy kind of love before, not the intense kind

Spi tries reassuring Ame that there's nothing wrong with feeling that way, though, and that he most likely is normal... but Ame doesn't believe him

Ame, in desperation while struggling to sort out his feelings: Is this... Is this how Father felt...?
Spi: Pardon?
Ame: About... About Lucius, I mean... This horrible, crushing feeling... Feelings you can't control... Is that why he-
Spi: Stop

Spi: Do not compare yourself to Father. Your feelings for Dr. Friede are innocent. They're not warped or twisted or wrong.
Spi: By being in love with Dr. Friede, and acting on those feelings, you're not betraying anyone. You're not the same as someone who was willing to hurt their spouse.

Spi's horrified that Ame would even think his teenage crush was in any way comparable to an affair. He tries reassuring Ame that no, it's in no way the same, and the only reason Gibe did what he did was because Gibe's a coward, and that Ame is absolutely NOT a coward
