FrieAme AU where Friede's a paediatrician and Amethio's a terminally ill inpatient. Friede's in charge of Amethio's care and keeps telling himself not to get attached but oops Friede gets attached. So does Amethio. Contains main character death, obviously!

Friede taking Amethio out for an afternoon before Amethio's health deteriorates too much. Gibeon allows it, but instructs Spinel to tag along (much to Amethio's disgust). Spinel gets in the way of Amethio's plans of kissing Friede

Amethio's in a wheelchair and Friede and Spinel take turns pushing him.

Not sure where they go lol. Maybe the beach? I want Friede and Amethio to watch the sunset together. Friede wants to show Amethio some pretty scenery and Amethio's all "Whatever it's just the sun" until the sunset actually happens and as cliched as it is it moves him

Though he then gets upset because it's probably the last sunset he'll ever see in this way

Amethio is determined to kiss Friede before the day's over, but with Spinel there, he doesn't get very far

So when they're back at the hospital and Friede takes Amethio to his room, Amethio steals a kiss right when Friede's trying to put him in bed

(He knows better than to kiss Friede (or anyone tbh) in front of Spinel lol)

Friede spends the rest of the night unable to sleep because holy shit what

Amethio meanwhile is very pleased with himself

That's so cute... Ame is doing his best with his first love. (Poor Frie though)

He has to get it with his own two hands, or else it's not going to happen.

Yep, he's realised that Friede is purposefully ignoring his advances. So Ame knows he has to do it himself

I wish I could make them do more than kiss but I really don't think doctor Frie would lmao

Sometimes, the love is (kind of) doomed and that's why we like it... Doctor Frie wouldn't, but also isn't that why Ame loves him? Knowing that he wouldn't use him this way even if he begged?

Oh it's definitely part of it. Frie treats Ame with love and care (that Ame doesn't think he deserves) and doesn't take advantage of him, even though Frie very easily could do that if he wanted to. Ame respects that (but it also pisses him off sometimes)

The doctor is treating as a doctor should-
I like it a lot honestly. Ame feeling love and care... perhaps he hasn't felt that in years coming from his family? Unfortunately... so that's also why he fixates on Frie?

Yeah imo a big part of it is that Ame isn't used to people treating him nicely so he's initially put off by Frie (thinking he's just doing it out of obligation or that Frie has some ulterior motives) but eventually realises Frie is being genuinely nice and he actually... kinda likes it. A lot.

It's cute. Frie making him feel like he actually matters too... it's a weird feeling but really nice.

I want Amethio to run into Liko & Roy when he's out with Friede and Spinel on their afternoon travels or whatever. Maybe Liko used to spend time at the hospital with Lucca and Friede knows her that way?

I explained it badly but I feel like Lucca would be high up on the hospital board somewhere (not the director though, maybe that's grandma) and she's a qualified doctor who trained Friede

Anyway Liko doesn't really know how to interact with Amethio because she doesn't want to upset him accidentally and then there's Roy who's just... being Roy and is all "HEY SO WHY'RE YOU IN HOSPITAL?"

Amethio is Amethio so he straight up tells Roy the truth and Roy feels really bad but Amethio says something like "You had no way of knowing"

[Me]
Liko & Roy try giving Amethio some words of encouragement but all they do is frustrate him (he doesn't blame them, but he's not the type who wants people wasting energy on him over pointless things)

Friede realises that Amethio's uncomfortable and sends the kids on their way and it's not until they leave that Amethio almost starts crying because he knows that he'll never live the carefree life they do. He'll never enjoy a summer afternoon outing with his friends (not that he has any, but that's not the point)
