FrieAme AU where Friede's a paediatrician and Amethio's a terminally ill inpatient. Friede's in charge of Amethio's care and keeps telling himself not to get attached but oops Friede gets attached. So does Amethio. Contains main character death, obviously!

Ame admitting in his letter to Gibe that he was in love with Frie... He doesn't mention anything about Frie's feelings or that they kissed and touched each other. He just says that he loves Frie. And begs Gibe to continue to treat Frie with the same respect that Frie showed their family even after Ame's gone

Ame desperately trying to get across that Frie went above and beyond and never once hurt him. That Frie was the one good thing about being in hospital. He asks Gibe to help Frie out in any way he needs, and to make sure Frie's selflessness is acknowledged... somehow

Ame's slightly out of it when writing the letter, so some of it doesn't make sense. His thoughts are all over the place. But he doesn't care. He's writing down whatever comes to mind.

I've never heard of love being described as 'suffocating' or 'frustrating', but that's how it feels to me. Is it supposed to hurt this much? Or is that just because it's a love that's never going to amount to anything?

"Did you ever feel like this, Father? I highly doubt you did towards Mother. But maybe... this is how you felt towards Lucius? This uncontrollable storm of emotions. Did you ever wish for him to kiss you? To hug you? To make love to you?

If you did, I think I understand why you weren't able to stop yourself from seeking him out."

(Of course, Ame doesn't forgive Gibe for the affair, and he says as much. He makes it clear that he still hates him for it. But if his father did indeed feel the same way Ame does towards Frie, then... It makes a bit more sense to him now)

Oh, that's an interesting way to put it... the fact that he can somehow relate to his father despite everything and tries to make sense of what happened (and that he admits that he wants Frie on such a level... oh...)

Ame struggling to control his feelings towards Frie, and, at some point, wondering if that's how his father felt about Luci...

So I guess... you're *not* supposed to keep those feelings hidden?

Nope. Even if he didn't walk in on them doing anything sexual, he still saw his father in bed with someone who wasn't his mother. And that was enough to make him question everything

Ame at some point realising he never once asked Frie if Frie was in a relationship- (He's not, Frie would never cheat on somebody even with a dying patient)

Poor little boy who had his whole world shattered because of the selfishness of his father...!

And yeah, he would wonder for Frie! (and perhaps an insecure part of him thinks Frie will find someone else after his death... it makes him want to believe in reincarnation and that he'll steal Frie's heart in his next life)

Maybe when they're at Frie's apartment (when Ame's staying for the weekend) and they're in bed after having Almost But Not Really Sex, Ame realises he never asked Frie if Frie was single-

Ame: SO IT'S A BIT LATE FOR THIS BUT this... this isn't cheating, is it?
Frie: Excuse me?
Ame: Like. You're not... in a relationship, right? With someone other than me?
Frie: N-No??????

Frie wondering why that thought would ever occur to Ame

And then he later finds out about the affair and Frie's like "OH"
