FrieAme Modern Day Hospital AU Part 1

FrieAme AU where Friede's a paediatrician and Amethio's a terminally ill inpatient. Friede's in charge of Amethio's care and keeps telling himself not to get attached but oops Friede gets attached. So does Amethio. Contains main character death, obviously!

Thanks to my good friend for always contributing great ideas! <3

In this AU I think Gibe himself was badly abused as a child (physically) and that's partially why he's so distant from his own children... He didn't want to be like his father. But instead he ended up neglecting his sons and oops now they have abandonment issues
[Me] I say neglected but he did beat Ame a couple of times in moments of complete rage : )
[Redacted] That explains why he is so cold then!
[Me] It's a big reason! He's also not very friendly or compassionate in general and since he didn't want to have kids in the first place there is some general resentment there but on the whole, imo it contributed a lot
[Redacted] He had a hard time! (And then went on to abuse others)
[Me] Yep... I feel like Gibe wouldn't really realise the extent that he was truly abused and even if he admits to himself that he fucked up as a father, he's never going to be able to reflect on his own suffering -- he's not introspective in the slightest lol
[Redacted] It would take him years (probably after Ame's death and with some outside help like, Lk and Spi talking to him about various stuff)
[Me] Yeah... Maybe Frie helps him realise a little bit of it? But even then Gibe would never want to admit to himself that he was a victim
[Redacted] No because being a victim is for weak people and he isn't weak.
[Me] Oh I just thought of something where Gibe admits something to Luci, the first person he's ever told any of his secrets, and Luci's caught so off-guard by what Gibe says that he doesn't know how to react and all he can do is like... laugh it off and act like he doesn't know what Gibe's talking about
[Me] So Gibe takes that as a sign to never mention anything to anyone ever again
[Me] Luci gives a horrified "Haha what" but Gibe interprets it as Luci making fun of him so he just. Assumes that he really is pathetic for allowing his father to hurt him so much and from then on he denies it completely
[Me] Luci wasn't trying to be an ass, but he's only a year older than Gibe and he's a teenager at this point so he has no fucking clue how to process his boyfriend telling him he gets regularly beaten
[Redacted] Oh! So he tried to mention it once but it didn't go well and then never mentioned it again in his life until way down the road perhaps.
[Redacted] It's sad!
"[Me] I doubt Luci would even remember Gibe saying it... It'd stick with him for a while but then he'd probably block it out

He just didn't know what to do or say. Imo Gibe wouldn't blame Luci specifically as such, he'd just interpret it as the universe telling him that he shouldn't talk about it again"
"[Redacted] Yeah he definitely wouldn't want to bring it up again.

(Until Lk wants to know about Spi's grandparents-)"
[Me] Imo Gibe's parents are both dead or very elderly. Spi vaguely remembers them from his childhood, but they never met up that much (gee I wonder why) but Ame only ever met them once or twice and I can't imagine he'd remember them. In my mind he's forgotten most of his childhood from before his parents divorced (he was only 5-6)
[Me] So yeah Lk would have to ask Gibe directly and she can immediately tell that Gibe is... reluctant to talk about them
[Redacted] Yeah only Gibe remembers and maybe Lk is a bit curious about Spi's grandparents since she has a supportive grandma in her life.
[Me] Lk assuming all grandmas are nice and cool and uh nope
[Me] Not that Spi's grandma was like... shitty in the same way that his grandfather was but for some reason I picture her as being quiet and obedient etc (so that her husband doesn't get mad at her I guess)
[Me] And she wouldn't really take the initiative like Diana does
