FrieAme Modern Day Hospital AU Part 1

FrieAme AU where Friede's a paediatrician and Amethio's a terminally ill inpatient. Friede's in charge of Amethio's care and keeps telling himself not to get attached but oops Friede gets attached. So does Amethio. Contains main character death, obviously!

Thanks to my good friend for always contributing great ideas! <3

Thinking about Luci wanting to apologise to Ame for the affair etc but he doesn't know how to... And he knows Ame probably won't forgive him either way.
[Me] Would apologising even be fair to Ame at this point? Luci has no idea. Ame's already been hurt by Luci's actions and Luci knows this...
[Me] But Luci can't just leave Ame alone without attempting to do something. Even if he doesn't make up for what happened in the past, he wants to do something as a gesture of remorse and regret
"[Me] So Luci decides to sit down and ask Ame if there's anything he can do. If there's anything Ame wants.

Ame just glares at him and gives a flat ""No"""
[Me] Ame: Unless you can turn back time and make it so that you never seduced my father in the first place, there's nothing you can say or do that will change how I feel about you. Stop trying to act like this is something you can atone for. You ruined my family. And I'll never forgive you.
"[Me] Luci finds it fascinating that Ame thinks he ""seduced"" Gibe. Did Gibe tell Ame that directly, or was that the conclusion Ame drew himself?

Because, well, it's not entirely wrong, and Luci can't exactly rebuke it"
"[Me] Luci: I'm not expecting you to forgive me. But if there's anything--
Ame: No.
Luci: Hold on, let me-
Ame: I said NO."
[Me] Ame's commanding tone of voice reminds Luci of how Gibe sounds when he gets mad. Gibe tends to just repeat a particular command until the other person listens and shuts up. He thinks it's cute that Ame's subconsciously copied that behaviour
"[Me] Luci: Alright, then. But if you ever think of anything, I'll always be around!
Ame: I've been wondering this for a while, but ...What did my father ever see in you? I don't understand why he'd want anything to do with someone as obnoxious and persistent as you"
"[Me] Luci can't help but laugh. Ame really has no idea that relationships aren't solely about personalities and the social interactions, and that innocence is adorable to Luci

Luci can't exactly say ""the sex was a huge part of it lol"" so he just raises an eyebrow and shrugs"
"[Me] Luci: Your guess is as good as mine
Ame: ...Did you force him into it? Or threaten him?
Luci: Haha, no. As if I could get away with threatening your father! He's always held power over me. And trust me, if he didn't want a relationship with me, he would've made it so that I could never interact with him ever again
Ame: ...That's true..."
"[Me] Ame: ...Actually, I have another question...
Luci: Sure. Why don't we make this the thing I do to help you? I can tell you things about your father you'd never hear from the man himself
Ame: ...I guess"
"[Me] Luci: So, go on. What's your other question?
Ame: I-I'm aware this is, er... a bit weird, and... and personal... but...

Luci notices that Ame's looking away and blushing slightly. Is he perhaps wondering if Luci had ever kissed Gibe? The boy would at least know about kissing, even if he didn't think about the sexual side of things"
"[Me] Ame: ...D-Did you... Did you and my father ever, um... s-sleep together...?
Luci: ...

Oh. So he was aware of that aspect. But Luci was somewhat surprised that Ame asked, given that he'd caught the two men in bed together directly. Had he not put 2-and-2 together?"
"[Me] Luci: What makes you ask?
Ame: W-Well, it's just... Part of the reason he... c-cheated... would've been because he wanted to have that kind of a relationship, and Mother wasn't... good enough... so... I was told that's why he sought you out...
Luci: ...Who told you that, exactly? Was it Gibeon?
Ame: No. He's never said anything about it"
[Me] Ame: My... My brother said that was why it happened... That he wanted someone he could... d-do that stuff with... A-And Mother wasn't doing it with him... And you'd done it with Father before, a long time ago, but... Maybe he was lying to me...
[Me] Luci feels sorry for Ame. He was probably told those things when he was far too young to fully comprehend them, and maybe, even now, he didn't entirely understand what Spi had meant, even if he did know what sex was and how it worked
"[Me] Luci: The honest answer is... yes. We did. I'm afraid your brother was telling the truth, at least to a degree. Although I'm not sure how much he understood at the time...
Ame: ...Then, that night when I saw you in Mother's bed... had you been...?
Luci: ..."
"[Me] Luci doesn't really know how to respond. He doesn't want to lie, but he doesn't know how to word the truth, either.

While Ame might not have seen them doing anything intimate, he had witnessed Luci and Gibe in bed together after a night of sexual activity. And it had clearly upset him. More than Luci realised at the time."
"[Me] Luci: What do you think?
Ame: I don't know! I don't... I have no idea, okay?! That's why I'm asking! Y-You came to visit a lot, and I don't know if you were doing it every time you were in the house, or if it was only sometimes... A-And I... I only saw you in bed next to him, so... I don't know."
"[Me] Luci: ...
Ame: Answer me! Were you and my father... Were you... Did you touch him? While you were occupying Mother's side of the bed? Pretending that she didn't exist? Did my father lovingly caress you, as if his sons weren't in the house? How often did it happen? Whenever you visited? Whenever Mother was away? How often did you and Father hold each other?"
[Me] Ame: You made love - if you can call it that - on that bed. I know you did. But I'm asking about that night specifically. If I'd interrupted you earlier, would I have witnessed something even more disgusting than just the site of you lying where Mother usually lay? Would I have seen the two of you... e-embracing?
"[Me] Luci is taken aback by how affected Ame still seems. He's trembling slightly by this point, and his voice isn't as steady as it was at the start.

It was clear that Ame had been haunted by seeing Luci in bed with his father, and that it still made him extremely upset to think about.

Luci doesn't blame him. He has no excuses."
"[Me] Luci: ...Yes. All I can say... is yes.
Ame: ...

Ame's expression goes from one of mild anger to full-blown rage as he screws his face up at Luci. There are tears forming in the corners of his eyes.

This is different than how Gibe behaves. Gibe never reacted like this. Not to the point of crying and shaking with hatred."
"[Me] Ame looks like he's going to start yelling at Luci, but instead, he grabs a pillow from behind him, shakily gets out of bed, and starts whacking Luci with it instead

Ame: WHY?! WHY DID YOU...?! WHY WOULD YOU...?! IF YOU... IF YOU HAD NEVER... THEN... THEN...

Wait, no there it was. Luci didn't even try and stop Ame from hitting him with the pillow"
"[Me] Ame's yelling at Luci, but most of it's incomprehensible through Ame's tears. All Luci can make out is that Ame hates him and that it's all Luci's fault.

Luci isn't concerned. Ame doesn't have enough strength to actually hurt him. He's already getting out of breath from continuously whacking the pillow at Luci"
"[Me] Ame: IF ONLY... YOU... YOU HAD... IF I NEVER...
Ame: IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! ALL OF IT! FATHER, MOTHER... ME... THIS... YOU...
Ame: IT'S NOT MY FAULT! IT'S NEVER BEEN MY FAULT! IT'S ALWAYS BEEN YOU! YOU'RE THE ONE... YOU RUINED... YOU..."
"[Me] Ame's finally reached his limits, and he starts to lose his balance for a moment in between hauling the pillow, so Luci quickly grabs Ame by the shoulders and sits him down on the edge of the bed.

Ame's shaking and breathless. His face is covered in tears."
[Me] Luci takes the pillow from Ame, who doesn't resist, and places it back with Ame's other pillow. He then hands Ame a half-finished cup of water, which Ame snatches from him and drinks in a single gulp.
[Me] Luci's about to say something to Ame when the door opens and Frie enters, looking mildly concerned
"[Me] Frie: Uh... is everything okay? Someone told me they heard shouting...
Luci: It seems I'm not welcome here. Maybe he'll calm down once I've left
Frie: Huh? What did--
Luci: I'm sure he'll tell you. What he needs it comfort from someone he trusts. He doesn't need an enemy to soothe him
Frie: Oh. Um. O-Okay?"
"[Me] Luci takes that as his cue to leave, with Frie now looking extremely bamboozled

But before he leaves the room, Luci takes a deep breath.

Luci: You're right. It is my fault. It's not yours, Amethio. None of it's yours. It never has been.

With that, Luci swiftly departs, knowing he needs to give Ame some space"
"[Me] Luci isn't mad at Ame. He can't be. He's just a boy, even now. His anger is justified, Luci reckons.

And so is his trauma. Luci has worked with enough young patients to know that, ultimately, Ame's still traumatised. By him.

Luci's aware he shouldn't ever see Ame again. For Ame's own sake.

He just hopes Frie can comfort Ame and reassure him as alaways"
[Me] And then Frie spends ages calming Ame down as Ame cries into Frie's arms while he curses Luci and tells Frie how much he despises the man who ruined his family, and how he's mad that he spent so many years blaming himself for it, when it was obvious from the start that it was entirely Luci's fault
[Me] Ame's also mad that Luci's just like "Yeah it's my fault : )" and doesn't even try and defend his actions. Because it means Luci already feels guilty, and Ame can't make him any more remorseful
