FrieAme AU where Friede's a paediatrician and Amethio's a terminally ill inpatient. Friede's in charge of Amethio's care and keeps telling himself not to get attached but oops Friede gets attached. So does Amethio. Contains main character death, obviously!

"[FrieAme hospital AU] Thinking about Ame's family going on a holiday when his parents were still together. They're rich so they have a holiday house somewhere (I'm poor lol I don't know how it works)

Ame's about 4, Spi's ~9. This is the first time they've all gone away together since Ame was born

(Note: LuciGibe's affair has been happening for a while now)"
[Me] Except the whole thing's a disaster and Ame gets badly carsick on the way there (it's his first time going on a long drive so nobody had any idea he'd react like that), Spi keeps getting mad at Ame and won't listen when Mother tries to calm him down, Ame's crying because he's feeling awful and also being yelled at...
"[Me] Gibe immediately regrets the choice to go away with them. At least Ham's the one driving so he doesn't have to focus on that.

Gibe just... tries to ignore it all. He hates it. He wishes he could be going on holiday alone with Luci instead, not this stupid family he's stuck with"
"[Me] They eventually get to their destination. Mother takes Ame, who by this point has fallen asleep, inside to clean him up. Spi heads to his room so he can finally be alone. Ham deals with everyone's luggage.

Gibe decides to take a walk."
"[Me] The house is on a large plot of land. It's belonged to Gibe's family for generations, and he spent a lot of time there as a child. It's oddly nostalgic, even for someone like him.

There's a small pond a short walk away from the house itself, and a rustic wooden bench on the edge of it. It's one of the spots Gibe finds the most relaxing"
"[Me] Gibe sits down on the bench and gazes into the water, trying to clear his mind.

There are a handful of waterfowl on the pond, mostly ducks, who don't seem to care that there's a human watching them. When he was younger, there were more birds around, but their numbers appear to have dwindled over the years"
"[Me] All he can think about is the one time he actually had a fun time during the long summer break from school...

He and Luci, who were together at that time, had secretly visited this house, without Gibe's family knowing."
[Me] Gibe was never one to break the rules or go against his parents, but he couldn't deny the thrill he felt knowing he was doing something his family disapproved of (Gibe told his family he'd be spending some time at his friend's place... and felt weird using the word "friend")
[Me] Luci could drive, so transport wasn't an issue. They arrived late in the afternoon and were both tired, but Luci declared that he wanted to explore the grounds before it got dark. Gibe agreed, so they left their belongings at the house and wandered around outside for a while
[Me] Luci asked Gibe to show him his favourite spots, so Gibe did. He saved the pond for last, since the sun was starting to set, and the water always looked nice under the night sky
[Me] Gibe took Luci to a few select places: an area with lots of large, old trees, a small bamboo garden, a man-made pavilion (which was essentially a few tables and chairs with a roof over them), and, finally, the pond
"[Me] Luci: Saved the best for last, huh?
Gibe: ...Something like that. I just... find this place peaceful
Luci: I can see why! It's lovely
Gibe: Mm."
[Me] The two sit on the bench, with Luci closer than Gibe's usually comfortable with, but he's used to Luci being clingy, so he doesn't mind
"[Me] But then Luci, being Luci, kisses Gibe

Gibe: [Pushes Luci away] W-What are you doing?!
Luci: Oh, come on! I've been wanting to do this all day!
Gibe: C-Can't you at least wait until we're inside?
Luci: Nobody's going to see us, are they?
Gibe: W-Well, n-no, but...

Luci kisses him again and pushes Gibe down on the bench"
"[Me] Gibe, blushing profusely: .......This place is supposed to be peaceful
Luci: Oops : )

Luci is straddling Gibe, who's looking away from him. Luci's face is close enough that his long hair tickles Gibe's shoulders"
"[Me] Luci: Have you ever thought about someone touching you while sitting here?
Gibe: N-NO! Unlike you, I am NOT constantly horny!
Luci: Heh. Have you ever... touched yourself while sitting here?
Gibe: I TOLD YOU! This place is supposed to peaceful! The exact OPPOSITE of what you're talking about!
Luci: You're the one yelling : )
Gibe: ...Shut up"
"[Me] Adult Gibe forces himself to stop remembering things there. If he continues dwelling on what they did that night, then...

But try as he might, Gibe can still remember the way Luci touched him on that very same bench all those years ago"
[Me] Gibe, under his breath: So much for this place being peaceful... [Sigh]
"[Me] He really does wish Luci was there with him again. That trip was the most fun he's ever had in his life. Not only the excitement of doing something he shouldn't be, but the freedom of him being alone with his beloved. They could do anything

And, given how isolated the property is, it really felt like they were the only two in the entire world"
[Me] Gibe has never felt anything like it since. And he knows he never will, even if he is seeing Luci again
[Me] Part of Gibe was tempted to invite Luci along on this trip, but he knew he couldn't. That would be a guaranteed way of them getting found out. Even Gibe knew it was too suspicious if Luci was supposedly just a "friend"
"[Me] In an ideal world, Gibe would've visited this place with Luci many more times. It would've been just them. Alone... Alone and free.

But instead, Gibe's stuck with a family he never wanted. A wife he was indifferent towards. Children who, if he was perfectly honest, he wished didn't exist."
"[Me] Without Gibe realising, the sun had mostly set. He didn't think he'd been there that long, but looking at his watch, it appeared that quite some time had indeed passed.

So he took a deep breath and began to head back to the house, dreading having to eat dinner with his family"
"[Me] No matter how much he wished Luci could embrace him under the night sky again, Gibe knew it was impossible. Those days were long gone, and even at the time, they felt like a dream.

A fleetingly beautiful, almost euphoric, dream"
"[Me] Anyway Gibe then has to deal with the reality of having his wife and kids there instead of his hot boyfriend

Thankfully the dinner isn't too bad because Ame's still asleep and Spi's too tired to put up much of a fuss"
"[Me] The rest of their time away isn't too horrible but Gibe's extremely disengaged. Both Ham and Wife notice, but know they could never say anything to Gibe about it.

Wife wonders if he has mixed feelings about being back here. The last time they visited, about 5 years ago, she picked up on Gibe's odd mood back then, too, but it wasn't as strong"
[Me] I just love Gibe being all distant the whole time he's away with his wife & kids because he's thinking about fucking his hot boyfriend instead : )
