FrieAme AU where Friede's a paediatrician and Amethio's a terminally ill inpatient. Friede's in charge of Amethio's care and keeps telling himself not to get attached but oops Friede gets attached. So does Amethio.

Ame not eating much because the hospital food is nothing like what he gets at home... There's too much flavour and it's all things he'd never normally eat, so he usually ends up skipping meals (but that's okay, he's used to doing that)
"[Me] The food makes him feel nauseous. It's too overwhelming...

One of the nurses (Murdock probably) comments to Frie that Ame never eats more than a couple of mouthfuls of his meals, so Frie asks Ame about it. They can always adjust the flavours etc to suit his tastes more"
"[Me] Ame gives some instructions (he tries not to be too picky) that Frie passes along to the chef (Mitchell I guess lol)

But even after it's made a bit blander and more along the lines of what Ame prefers, he still can't eat the food. It doesn't taste bad, it's just...

...he knows if he eats it, his body will immediately reject it"
"[Me] After a few days of Ame still not eating despite multiple changes and adjustments, Frie talks to him again about it

Given Ame's symptoms of nausea whenever he eats and things tasting odd, Frie determines that it's probably part of his illness. Upon doing some tests and research it turns out to be the case"
[Me] But Ame still needs to, y'know, eat and get his nutrients. Frie knows Ame will refuse something like a feeding tube, and it's honestly too early to go that route yet anyway in Frie's mind
"[Me] Ame: Why, though? I'm going to die no matter what I do or don't eat. What's the point?
Frie: Humans kinda need food, y'know
Ame: Yeah, to survive. I'm not surviving either way. That's what I mean.
Frie: ...Okay. But surely there are things you enjoy eating, right? We can always stick to those. You're not starving yourself to death, okay"
"[Me] Ame: ...
Frie: What's your favourite foods? Give me a list
Ame: I... I don't particularly have any
Frie: Huh? Don't be stubborn. Everyone has a favourite food!
Ame: Well, I don't. Eating's always been a pain. Nothing tastes good. I never have an appetite. I only eat because I have to"
"[Me] Frie: Not even, like, your parents' cooking? You don't have something you love at a café you regularly go to? Not even fast food? Well... I guess you probably wouldn't eat fast food lmao
Ame: First of all, we have a chef. They're supposed to be highly skilled, but I've never been able to tell. My father most likely doesn't know how to cook."
[Me] Ame: I don't go to cafés. I've never been allowed to, nor do I have friends to do that kind of thing with. And I'd probably be disowned if I ever ate fast food
"[Me] Frie doesn't know that Ame's mother is dead at this point, and Ame purposefully doesn't comment on her. Ame can't remember if she cooked for them or not.

Ame: So, no. I don't have a ""favourite food"". I just eat what's given to me at home
Frie: And you can manage those meals okay?
Ame: ...
Ame: ...Mostly"
"[Me] Frie: So you sometimes don't finish meals even at home?
Ame: If I don't think I could finish a meal I'll just skip it. I'll get in trouble if I waste food
Frie: You... You shouldn't be purposefully skipping meals!
Ame: But sometimes I'm simply not hungry
Frie: You need to eat anyway
Ame: Yeah, I've tried that. It didn't work"
"[Me] Frie: Tried what?
Ame: Forcing myself to eat. Turns out when your body doesn't want food, it just throws it all right back up. And that's something I'd rather avoid, as it happens
Frie: How... How long has this been going on?
Ame: I don't remember
Frie: Excuse me?
Ame: I... was maybe when I was about 9 or 10 that I first took notice of it"
"[Me] Ame: But I think it would've been happening even before that
Ame: I noticed that when I ate, I'd feel sick afterwards, and would often throw up. My father would always yell at me for it, especially if it happened during meals, which it did occasionally
Ame: One time it did when we had guests over - I don't remember who they were"
"[Me] Ame: And Father... wasn't very impressed
Ame: As a result, I wasn't allowed to eat the next day. But honestly, I felt better not eating. So I think it was from around then that I would purposefully skip meals sometimes. That way, it was something I chose to do, and not something Father forced me to do..."
"[Me] Frie: Wait wait wait wait
Frie: Okay, so, you threw up during some meal with guests. That happens.
Frie: And your father thought it was a good idea to starve you?
Ame: [Shrugs] He wouldn't let me eat if I embarrassed him or did poorly at school sometimes. He's always done that. So it didn't really bother me"
"[Me] Frie: Well, it SHOULD bother you! That's... That's not a good thing
Ame: I told you that I hate eating anyway. Some days it was a relief to not have to worry about food, if anything
Frie: ..."
"[Me] Frie: And despite these issues... your parents were never concerned about your health? Nobody in your family ever considered taking you to a doctor about it?
Ame: [Laughs bitterly] That would requite my father to care about me in the first place, which he does not. As I'm sure you've figured out"
"[Me] Frie: What the f-
Frie: W-What about your mother? Was she worried at all? Or did she not care, either?
Ame: ...[Sigh] It would've been a bit hard for her to care
Frie: ...?

Ame doesn't really want to talk about it. He hates talking about his mother. All it does it make him angry at his father for betraying her..."
"[Me] Ame: She can't exactly care about me since she's dead
Frie: ............................
Frie: Uh, I-
Ame: You asked about her. She was dead by then. I don't remember exactly how old I was when she died... Maybe I was 7 or so...
Ame: I didn't see her much by then anyway"
"[Me] Frie: W... Why not? Was she just always busy?
Ame: Ugh. You're so nosy...
Ame: Whatever. It doesn't matter. It means nothing to you anyway
Frie: I was just wonder-
Ame: My parents divorced a couple of years before my mother died. She didn't live with us. I got to see her sometimes, but not that often"
"[Me] Ame tries not to think about his parents' divorce. It upsets him too much. It makes him remember them yelling at each other, and his father kicking him for trying to defend Mother...

...And the scene of his father in bed with another man is still etched into his mind. He'd much rather not recall that. It makes him feel sick to his stomach"
"[Me] Frie: ...I'm sorry. I won't ask for details, don't worry.
Frie: Thanks for telling me, Amethio
Ame: Why?
Frie: I can tell you're struggling to talk about it
Ame: ...Shut up
Frie: It's okay, I understand-
Ame: You absolutely do NOT"
"[Me] Frie: Hey. My parents got divorced when I was young, too. I've been through that. Even if the reasons and the circumstances were different... I know what it's like
Ame: ..."
[Me] Ame wonders if it's okay to open up to Frie a bit. But he won't tell him any particular details. He can't really. He knows he'll get too frustrated if he tries explaining what happened...
[Me] Frie leaves the discussion at that, and mumbles to himself about making further adjustments to Ame's meals as he takes a few notes
