FrieAme AU where Friede's a paediatrician and Amethio's a terminally ill inpatient. Friede's in charge of Amethio's care and keeps telling himself not to get attached but oops Friede gets attached. So does Amethio.

Thought of something where Ame has a bit of a breakdown over his body constantly betraying him and so he admits to Gibe he wants to just. Give up. He can't tell Frie because he doesn't want Frie to worry about him, but since Gibe doesn't care, Ame ends up telling Gibe when Frie's not in the room with them
"[Me] Ame, desperate, asks Gibe to kill him, since, well, Gibe's always wanted to do that, right? Surely he'll at least let Ame die.

But Gibe just sits there silently, not saying anything. He doesn't seem bothered at all by Ame's distress. Not that he ever is"
"[Me] Gibe: And is that a serious request?
Ame: What? Haven't you been listening?!
Gibe: You... want me to kill you?
Ame: Yes. I'd rather die than continue to sit here unable to do anything as my body completely falls apart
Gibe: ..."
"[Me] Ame: I know I could do it myself, but... I don't know if I have the strength left to pull that off anymore. So... I mean, you want me dead, right? It only makes sense to ask you!
Gibe: No
Ame: Huh?
Gibe: Did you expect me to agree? To killing you? Don't be ridiculous! I'm not foolish enough to ruin my life because of YOU"
"[Me] Ame: ...

At that point, Frie comes back and sees that Ame's pretty upset. While Frie's trying to console Ame, Gibe clears his throat loudly

Gibe: Amethio told me something interesting
Frie: Hm?
Ame: NO! Don't-
Gibe: He said he's had enough. And he asked, earnestly, for me to kill him
Frie: ...What are you...?"
"[Me] Gibe: Of course, I would never be idiotic enough to do that. But I thought you should know. Just in case he attempts something stupid.
Ame: W-Why would you...? I SAID that I didn't want to tell Friede! Why do you keep doing the opposite of what I ask?!
Gibe: He's your doctor. He should know if you're suicidal
Ame: ..."
"[Me] Ame's horrified that Gibe completely ignored him and told Frie. Overwhelmed, he starts crying

Ame: I... I just... You... You never listen to me! And I don't understand! You've always wanted me dead! Now's your chance!
Frie: Amethio-
Ame: Father! Please!
Gibe: Absolutely not
Ame: [Sobs loudly]"
"[Me] Frie, patting Ame on the back gently, offers Ame a cup of water. Ame takes a sip and then has an idea.

There's a large plastic jug sitting on the bedside table. It's about half full of water.

Ame puts his cup down and picks up the jug instead. It's heavy. He knows he probably can't hold on to it for that long -- but that's okay, he doesn't plan to"
"[Me] Ame uses what little strength he has to turn and face his father, who's sitting next to the bed. Gibe's glaring at Ame, looking like he's about to say something. He's probably going to scold Ame again.

Ame lets out a cry of frustration as he hauls the jug forwards in his arms. The water falls out, splashing onto Gibe's face and chest"
"[Me] Frie gasps as Ame drops the now empty jug. Ame's shaking

Ame: I HATE YOU! WHY DON'T YOU EVER LET ME HAVE ANYTHING?! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!"
"[Me] Ame's expecting Gibe to be furious. Beyond angry. Surely he'll hit him in retaliation.

But Ame glances up at his father, who is... motionless. His expression is completely blank"
"[Me] Ame: ...Father?

Frie panics and realises he should get Gibe a towel, so he runs over to the other side of the room

While Frie has his back turned, Ame's starting to grow unnerved. Gibe's completely still"
[Me] And then Gibe just... loses consciousness and falls straight onto the floor
[Redacted] Ame what did you do to your dad?!
"[Me] He just so happened to trigger Gibe's biggest trauma : )

The last time someone was angry and threw water on him it was boiling water and he got badly burnt so his mind just. Shuts down completely.

Ame doesn't know this of course"
"[Me] Ame freaks out and calls Frie back over

Ame: I... I didn't kill him, did I?!
Frie: Unless he's allergic to water, no. Anyway, he has a pulse. He's just collapsed
Ame: I... I'm sorry... I didn't mean to...
Frie: I know. I'll sort this out. He'll be fine, don't worry
Ame: What did I...
Frie: Ssh. It's alright"
"[Me] Frie calls Lucca (his superior) and asks what they should do. Lucca says he probably needs to be monitored for signs of any kind of head injury, and to bring him to the emergency department just to be safe

Frie gets Murdock to help him lift Gibe into a stretcher. Ame's crying the entire time, apologising over and over again"
"[Redacted] Oh true... Gibe has some repressed trauma.

Ame is a very good boy... he does feel bad despite everything and never wanted to hurt his father.."
[Me] He was just venting his frustrations... He wasn't expecting Gibe to react like this at all...
[Me] (Also sorry for the sporadic updates to this I've been busy today and then ended up taking a nap lol)
"[Me] Anyway I'm also toying with the idea of Gibe waking up and having been so fucked up by what he remembered that he reverts to mentally being a teenager

In other words he doesn't remember who Ame is. Or who Spi is. And in his mind, he's still dating Luci

Ame is... distraught to say the least. Even Spi's upset by Gibe forgetting them"
[Me] But I don't really know where to go from that. Maybe they drag Luci over to be like "Babe you're not 17 you're in your 40s and also we broke up like 26 years ago"
"[Me] They do get Gibe to talk to both Spi and Ame separately and he refuses to believe they're his sons. He thinks Frie and Ham are fucking with him

He's not even 20 yet, how can he have a son who's essentially the same age as him?"
"[Me] Gibe would eventually remember that oh he's actually not a teenager and yeah those are his sons and one of them is indeed fucking dying

Maybe Luci has to get Gibe to admit his trauma to Spi and Ame? And that's what makes him snap out of it?"
"[Me] I've been thinking about this more and I want this to be what makes Gibe realise he fucked up as a parent. When he does come back to his senses and remembers everything, he's hit with the sudden awareness that he really hasn't been that better than his own father.

He's turned into the type of parent he swore he'd never become"
[Me] But it's too late to change things even if he has this reslisation before Ame dies. Ame's exhausted by this point and Gibe knows Ame won't think any apology is actually genuine
[Me] So all Gibe can do is awkwardly try and help Frie with taking care of Ame physically. Even just washing his hair or changing his hospital gown or whatever. Nothing that's an invasion of privacy (neither Ame or Gibe would want that)
"[Me] Ame still feels awful for what he did to Gibe, even though everyone's tried to explain that it's not Ame's fault and that he had no idea Gibe would react like he did

But Ame can't forgive himself. He shouldn't have acted so childishly in the first place. He just... is at his limit. So he begged his father for an easy way out"
"[Me] Nobody's mad at Ame. Not Frie. Not even Gibe. Gibe can't bring himself to be angry.

Spi... Spi isn't sure how he feels about the whole thing other than that it's the first time he's seen his father act so pathetically"
[Me] Imo both Ame and Spi would be shaken by how vulnerable Gibe was. Ame especially. Gibe's always been imposing and intimidating and yet he fell to the floor in an instant. He wasn't moving, either, which I think would terrify Ame the most
"[Me] Maybe while Gibe's confessing everything to his sons he actually ends up crying in front of them a little bit and it makes both Spi and Ame feel extremely uncomfortable.

Their father's not supposed to cry. He's not supposed to be so... weak"
[Me] Or something along those lines. I just want Gibe to be accidentally triggered by Ame and it fucks him up c o m p l e t e l y

[Redacted] Also wondering if Gibe's dad is still alive at that point in time? Did Ame and Spi ever hear about their grandfather
"[Me] Imo Gibe's parents are both dead. I don't think Gibe would've kept in much contact with them anyway, though.

I'm not sure when they died. Maybe not that long ago and within a few years of each other. Gibe wasn't upset by their deaths lol"
"[Me] Also I can't imagine Gibe talking about his parents lol. I think Spi would've met them, but if Ame did he doesn't remember them.

Spi vaguely recalls his grandfather being scary but imo that would be about it, maybe"

Rich family bullshit is the basic idea but like, there are probably many horrific stories if they started digging. Maybe Spi does once he's older and married and immediately regrets it"
[Me] Spi, looking at some of the marriages of the past generations: Well THAT'S illegal nowadays... So's that one... This one SHOULD be illegal...
[Redacted] Tfw Spi has better standards than most of them- (well Spi is... quite well adjusted in this AU, even though he is still a bit of a menace/neglectful in the past!)
[Me] Hey, at least Spi doesn't physically abuse people or force underage women into marrying him!
