Gym

When I open the iron doors, which surely looks like a gym, fourteen students have already been gathered there. Including Hikaru and me, there are sixteen of us. We have met each of the students at least once while at school. There are even trees growing inside the gym, basketball hoops on both sides, and a stage at the front. The school emblem...it is very stylish, but, or perhaps because it is stylish, it irritates me.

Satoru: That makes sixteen...Now everyone’s here.

Shu: Sixteen Ultimates gathered...oh gosh, I’m gonna pass out...

Rena: Hey, are you okay...?

Miharu: Hey, shouldn’t we be showing a bit more caution? Look, my legs are trembling like those of a newborn fawn.

Now we have common sense,

Mishina: What’s going to happen next, I wonder? Could it be that the villain is about to make its entrance?

Suddenly, Reika the gunslinger girl says. Hiruma who has been desperately pulling on his brother stops moving.

Hiruma: Yeah, I do! I hear five engine noises like that of a robot anime here and there! Wait, did I say five?

The next moment,





KABOOOOOM!!!!!



The ground rumbles. I lose my balance and fall. There are the voices of the Monokubs, and legs, robots’ legs of lumps of iron. It scares me. I look up and see five incredibly large robots...



Monokubs: Yo-ho! Rise and shine, ursine-!

Yui: Kyaaaaaaaaaah!!

Reika: Everyone, behind me now!!

Miharu: wh-What the heck are these...monsters?!

Hiruma: Noooo! Somebody pleeeeaaase be my shield to save me!

As we are thrown into chaos, the voice of the Monokubs speaks.

Monokid: They’re Exisals---highly mobile, bipedal weapons platforms! They got lotsa hometown pride, too!

Monosuke: ...I can’t keep track of the backstories.

The Monokubs are in these five machines? Why are they riding such a huge robots? Are they...killing us?

Miyu: Please! Don’t kill me!

Miyu almost cries.

Monophanie: No way! We’re not gonna kill any of you. I don’t like something gross.

Monotaro: We just came here to ask you a favor!

Monosuke: Yes, a favor. You’d better listen to us if ya don’t wanna get crushed by Exisals.

Hikaru: Anyway...what’d you wanna say?
