DRRV: Prologue 1 English translation

Hikaru on page 4, Shiori on 7, Sakurai twins on 8, Raku on 9, Miyu on 10, Satoru on 11, Shu on 12, Rena and Nazuna on 13, Hiroyuki on 14, Reika on 16, Miharu on 17, Toru on 18, Usagi on 19

After parting ways with Reika and walking closer to the wall, we find a circular building.

Hikaru: ...So the school building isn’t the only thing inside the academy.

Dormitory

Once inside, there are 16 doors, roughly counting, lined up around a circular hall, divided into two floors in wellhole style. Are those for 16 people...?

Monokubs: Beary nice to see you again!

I hear a little bit different greeting, but it’s Monokubs.

Monotaro: Why, hello bear!

Monosuke: Sorry to intrude.

Yui: Hey, how’s it going here, why did you suddenly disappear earlier...and what do you mean sorry to intrude?

Monosuke: Cuz this is your home, you bastards!

Yui: What?! It’s--it’s not! No!

Shocked, it’s too much. It’s a terrible imposition and I’ll never accept it because my home is on the other side of the wall.

Monosuke: Showers and toilets are perfectly available.

Monophanie: Sounds nice! But it’s a shame they can’t soak in a hot spring, isn’t it?

Monotaro: y-You’re right! What should we do? Maybe we should build one for them?

Monokid: Hell yeah! We gotta talk to him about it!

Monokubs: So long! Bear-well!

They leave like a squall.

Yui: ...This is definitely not a home, though...we have no trouble making a living, at least.

I stroke my braid on the shoulder, suppressing my dissatisfaction. Hikaru calmly replies.

Hikaru: Yeah. It’s a dormitory in a word, right? Might as well use it as much as ya like til ya can go back to your real home.

At that moment, one of the doors open, and from within it peeks the face of a girl in a sailor uniform. Her eyes catches mine with a glimmer.

???: Ah! Humans there.

Since the girl rushes full tilt, leaving her skirt to flap wildly, I startle with my head away. I should not see the hem is turned up.

Miharu: Hi there! Looks like it’s nice to meet you, doesn’t it? I’m Miharu Kaize, the Ultimate Interpreter!

Her smile is utterly carefree. Not only her teeth gleaming in the light, but also her long golden braids, swinging on both sides, are dazzling enough to burn the eyes.

Yui: Interpreter...You mean you can speak other languages?

Miharu: Yes! English, Chinese, German, French, Russian and Arabic...I can handle all of those. Counting Japanese as my mother tongue, that makes me septilingual.

I’m relieved. If Rena and I, or anyone else run into language barriers, maybe I can ask for her help.

Hikaru: Seven! That’s insane! Why’d ya even study that many?

Miharu: Let’s say...that’s my top secret♡ Anyhow, language is romantic. Each of the expressions lets you step into a different worldview.

Then she quickly shifts the subject as she recalls something far more pressing.

Miharu: Oh, I almost forgot the situation in this situation. I wouldn’t mind so much if it were after school on Friday, but since we don’t know the time, we have to consider the grave disgrace of being marked absent and think about how to solve the current issue.

Miharu: So, the biggest problem is...the unidentified purpose of all this.

Yui: The...purpose?

Miharu: Yes. Consider the size of those buildings. Just constructing them would require an enormous fortune. I can’t believe it’s merely for ransom.

Yui: That’s so true...yeah, there’s no reason to prepare a whole school and the wall.

Miharu: Exactly. And besides, they haven’t treated us with hostility for now. In fact, they’ve handled us with super care.

Yui: Then, what is their purpose after all...?

As I fumble with my fruitless theories, Hikaru cuts in with his loud and bold voice.

Hikaru: Whatever. We’ll just wreck their plan, that’s all!

Yui: Oh, you’re so hot-blooded...

While I get confused, Miharu laughs and seems to like his attitude.

Miharu: I like it. I’m excited to taste their cooked goose together.
