Family: Tanzan (Ex-wife, deceased), Maria (Daughter, deceased), Spinel (Oldest grandson), Amethio (Younger grandson), Crave (Ex son-in-law, estranged), Mother & Father (Both deceased), Hamber (Personal attendant)

Amethio and Spinel's grandfather and head of the Forscher family, who they've always lived with and who raised them after their mother died.. A strict, cold-hearted man who runs the family's financial business. Has always treated Amethio horribly, and wishes he didn't exist.

• Abusive Parents: Horribly emotionally abusive towards his grandsons, particularly Amethio. His own parents were physically, emotionally and sexually abusive towards him when he was young.
• Afraid to Hold the Baby: The first time he held Maria, he was paralysed with fear at how tiny and fragile his newborn daughter was, and was terrified he'd somehow hurt her. From then on, he hardly held her, and never held his grandsons when they were born. Towards the end of Amethio's life, Friede even asks Gibeon if he ever held Amethio, and Gibeon admits to him that he didn't. Gibeon realises that he regrets this, and Friede encourages him to give Amethio hugs, even though hugging his dying 16-year-old grandson isn't the same as holding a newborn baby.
• Asshole Victim: Blames the fact that he was forced by his family to marry and have children on Amethio — his younger grandson. As it turns out, Gibeon was abused by his own parents, but even Gibeon himself ends up agreeing with Friede (and both his grandsons) that that's no reason to take his frustrations at his own cowardice out on Amethio.
• Be Careful What You Wish For: Has always resented Amethio and Amethio's very existence, and so he's always wished that Amethio never existed in the first place, and that he'd die. He comes to deeply regret this by the time Amethio actually does die.
• Became Their Own Antithesis: Gibeon realises he's become this after his Jerkass Realization and that he ultimately wanted to be a better parent than his own abusive father, but because of his cowardice, he grew twisted and resentful towards his daughter and her sons.
• Because I Said So: His preferred method of shutting people up.
• Berserk Button: Has several, including people deliberately breaking rules in front of him, things being out of order, deadlines not being met, amongst many others. His biggest is anyone accusing him of being an abuser. Lucius used to push his regulation-related buttons intentionally, mostly, to see how he'd react.
• Blatant Lies: A lot of what Gibeon says to his grandsons, especially about himself.
• Book Smart: Was always the top of his grade in school. He even got an award in academic excellence at one point.
• Break the Haughty: Very slowly gets chipped away at and repeatedly called out for his behaviour towards Amethio. He eventually does break — and it's painful for everyone involved.
• Breaking the Cycle of Bad Parenting: Ends up realising that, just like Amethio, HE wanted to break the cycle (since he was abused by his parents), but he became twisted by resentment instead and lashed out at his daughter and, subsequently, her sons.
• Brutal Honesty: Ends up being brutally honest about himself (and his failures at being a parent and grandparent) after his Jerkass Realization.
• Cannot Talk to Women: He tries his best to hide it, but he's very awkward trying to talk to women. Even his wife.
• Cannot Tell a Joke: Has absolutely no sense of humour, and finds it impossible to joke around with people.
• Can't Take Criticism: Loses his temper whenever someone criticises him. At least before his Jerkass Realization, after which he just agrees with whatever criticisms people have of him.
• Child Hater: A lot of it is projection over hating how he was as a child. He gets over this.
• Class Representative: Was this every single year of high school.
• Closet Gay: Doesn't stop him from having an affair with the man he Secret Relationship secretly dated in high school. Lucius, his boyfriend, is the only person who knows about Gibeon's sexuality — until their affair is found out by Amethio, who tells the butler Hamber and his grandmother (and Gibeon's wife) Tanzan.
• The Comically Serious: As far as Lucius and his friends were concerned, Gibeon was mostly this in high school. He was so serious about everything to do with school rules that it was somewhat amusing.
• Coming Out to Spouse: Was forced to admit to Tanzan that he's homosexual following her finding out about his affair with Lucius.
• Control Freak: Likes to be in charge of everyone and everything and gets angry when he can't call the shots himself. He was even part of the Disciplinary Committee in high school.
• Dating What Daddy Hates: Exactly why he was adamant about keeping his high school relationship with Lucius a secret.
• Deadpan Snarker: Used to be this in his younger days, especially with Lucius, although he stopped being snarky once he graduated high school.
• Does Not Know How to Say "Thanks": While he struggled to openly thank Lucius, Lucius could always tell that Gibeon was grateful by his general demeanor.
• The Dreaded: Anybody who knows him almost immediately learns that it's a very bad idea to anger him in the slightest. He's been this way since middle school.
• Drowning My Sorrows: Spends a few weeks drinking heavily after Amethio dies.
• Education Mama: Cares more about education than his grandsons' health, to the point that he accused Amethio of faking his health issues to get out of school.
• Emotion Suppression: Quickly learned that this was the easiest solution when trying to process the sexual abuse he was facing from his parents.
• Every Scar Has a Story: Has a giant scar on his back that's from being burned by his father pouring boiling water on him deliberately.
• Forced Out of the Closet: After his family found out about his affair with Lucius, Gibeon was forced to admit that he's homosexual.
• Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Gibeon tries to explain how he ended up the way he did, but he himself acknowledges that it doesn't lessen the pain his grandsons went through, and he doesn't want to use excuses for himself. He doesn't want to make it seem like the abuse he suffered is any excuse for how he treated Spinel and Amethio, as he's aware he's still fully responsible for his own actions as an adult — and as a parental figure.
• Funeral Banishment: Was not allowed to attend Tanzan's funeral, although the rest of the family were. He's also forbidden from contacting Tanzan's family at all, and is barred from visiting her grave.
• Gayngst: A lot of it, due to being forced to marry and have children thanks to his position as his family's only heir.
• Hair-Trigger Temper: Anything and everything makes him angry, even completely innocent questions and remarks.
• Hates Being Touched: Due to being sexually abused by both his parents. Lucius is the exception to this, although he's sometimes still apprehensive about Lucius touching him.
• I Need a Freaking Drink: Says something to this effect to Friede after Amethio dies.
• It Was a Gift: Has a favorite necktie that was a birthday gift from Lucius in high school. As such, he only wears it on very special occasions. However, he doesn't wear it to Amethio's funeral.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: As a teenager, Gibeon would defend the disadvantaged students and those belonging to minority groups at his high school when nobody else was willing to stand up for them. Adult Gibeon is a Jerk with a Heart of Jerk. Until he gets over himself.
• Jerkass Realization: Has a major one thanks to Amethio (unintentionally) forcing him to face his deepest traumas. It causes him to take a long, hard look at himself and makes him finally realise just how horribly he's treated Spinel and Amethio. While he struggles to admit to his grandsons that he feels remorse for his behaviour, he does end up having a deep discussion with them about his past and how he came to be the bitter man that he is. Amethio and Spinel are reluctant to forgive him, although they can both tell that Gibeon is genuinely sorry for his actions, so they decide to give him a chance to be a better parental figure. Amethio, at least, is extremely upset that this is all happening only a few months before he's going to die.
• Lack of Empathy: Gets called out for this frequently. It turns out he CAN still feel empathy, but he locked his emotions away as they were too overwhelming for him.
• Lie Back and Think of England: On the few occasions he had sex with Tanzan.
• Literal-Minded: Metaphors are completely lost on him and go way over his head.
• Never Be Hurt Again: After several months of dating, Gibeon finally found the courage to tell Lucius about the burn scar from his father that he has on his back during their weekend trip they took to the Forscher family's summer home... only for Lucius to laugh at him. Gibeon then made the decision to never tell anyone about his trauma ever again. However, the true reason Lucius laughed at him, which Gibeon isn't aware of, was at the sheer absurdity of the situation and how horrific it all was, not because he was making fun of Gibeon.
• Never My Fault: Always blames things going wrong on Amethio. He eventually pivots and realises that everything is his fault, and he was just projecting.
• No Social Skills: When he's not being rude and haughty, he's actually rather socially awkward, so he prefers to keep to himself.
• O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Suddenly gets quiet and calm. That's how Amethio knows he's truly angry. And remorseful.
• Obsessively Organized: Has to be on top of everything. He has several digital calendars and multiple reminders for important events/meetings. (It's a coping mechanism to trick himself into thinking he's in control of his life.)
• The Only One I Trust: Feels this way about Hamber, especially when it comes to being touched in non-sexual ways. The other exception is Lucius, when it comes to actual sexual ways, but even then, Gibeon still keeps his guard up when Lucius is being intimate with him. When he's hospitalised, he insists that Hamber be the one to perform any physical exams/checkups. Lucca protests by saying that he needs a doctor to do that, to which Gibeon informs her that Hamber has a nursing degree. Since Gibeon won't back down, and is adamant that nobody else is allowed to touch him, Lucca eventually agrees — but only to get him to undertake the checkups so that he can go home quicker, which both Lucca and Gibeon want.
• Paralyzing Fear of Sexuality: Due to being sexually abused by his parents from a young age, Gibeon is terrified of sex, although he did have a sexual relationship with Lucius in high school and enjoyed it. Even during his affair with Lucius as an adult, Gibeon is still unsure of the idea of sex, and while he more or less does completely trust Lucius, he can't entirely erase his fear that Lucius will somehow hurt him during sex. He's too scared to admit this to Lucius, since he's convinced Lucius will either make fun of him or be offended.
• The Perfectionist: He has to do everything properly and perfectly. As it turns out, this was forced on to him: his father would punish him if he wasn't perfect.
• Perpetual Frowner: At best, his expression is neutral, but for the most part, he looks angry.
• Psychological Projection: Realises he was projecting his insecurities and failures on to Amethio because Amethio reminded Gibeon of how he was as a child. He feels very guilty about this.
• Rape as Backstory: By both his mother and his father. Started when he was a young child and only stopped when Gibeon turned eighteen.
• Rape as Drama: The abuse by his parents is treated very seriously.
• Repressed Memories: The memory of his father angrily pouring boiling water on him when he was a child wasn't entirely repressed, but he realised after reliving it through a flashback that he'd tried to forget a lot of the details.
• The Resenter: Hates Amethio for existing, and being a reminder of Gibeon's own cowardice and his inability to live his own life. Amethio can't understand why until towards the end of his life when he learns more about his grandfather, but even then, he doesn't forgive Gibeon for how he was treated.
• Running Away to Cry: When Lucius confronts Gibeon about his parents sexually abusing him, Gibeon yells at Lucius about how he doesn't understand anything, and proceeds to run off. Once Gibeon reaches an unused classroom in the school that he usually retreats to for privacy, he breaks down in tears of shame.
• Safety in Indifference: Part of why he shut off his emotions and is so distant from everyone. He ends up learning the hard way that this doesn't work.
• Sanity Slippage: After Lucius broke up with him upon graduation and left to travel the world, Gibeon became more and more unstable. His marriage to Tanzan and the birth of Maria made matters increasingly worse, too.
• Sarcasm-Blind: While he can never tell when someone else is being sarcastic towards him, he himself used to make a lot of sarcastic remarks towards Lucius back in high school. Much to Lucius's amusement.
• Scars Are Forever: The burn scar on his back that his father inflicted upon him with boiling water when Gibeon was a child.
• Scrubbing Off the Trauma: Takes very long baths and does this whenever he washes himself due to prolonged sexual abuse from both his parents for years, from when he was a child until he turned eighteen. Even as an adult, and almost a decade after the deaths of his parents (which he himself is responsible for), Gibeon continues to feel unclean inside and out.
• Self-Made Orphan: He was an adult when he killed his parents, but Gibeon poisoned them when Spinel admitted that his great-grandfather was sexually abusing him.
• Sharp-Dressed Man: Always dresses in very fancy suits when out of the house. Even at home, he makes sure his clothes are perfectly presentable.
• The Sociopath: Invoked by him deliberately to the point that he's shut off any emotions (other than anger).
• Soulless Bedroom: There's a single bed and a chest of drawers. That's it. The large size of the room makes it seem very eerie.
• Stoic Spectacles: Is stoic whenever he's not shouting, and he wears glasses.
• "Stop Having Fun" Guy: As part of the Disciplinary Committee, this was essentially his job in high school. As an adult, he's even stricter with those around him — whether they be his employees or his own grandsons — and shuts down any amount of fun, which he sees as a waste of time.
• Straight Gay: He purposefully acts this way. Tanzan didn't initially believe Amethio when he told her about Gibeon's affair with Lucius purely because she couldn't imagine her husband sleeping with another man.
• Sympathetic Murder Backstory: Killed his parents by poisoning them when he learned that his father had started to sexually abuse a young Spinel. While his mother hadn't hurt Spinel at that point, Gibeon knew it was only a matter of time since she'd abused Gibeon himself in the past, too, so he decided to kill her as well.
• A Taste of the Lash: Was repeatedly lashed by his father when he was younger.
• They're Called "Personal Issues" for a Reason: While Gibeon does eventually tell his grandsons his life story full of incestual abuse, he purposefully omits several details, and there are certain things he never speaks to anyone about, either.
• Took a Level in Kindness: Once he learns to accept his trauma as reality and subsequently stops blaming Amethio for everything.
• Tranquil Fury: When he's truly angry, he gets eerily quiet and calm. Friede learns this the hard way.
• Trauma Button: Amethio angrily pouring a jar of water on Gibeon causes him to scream and pass out, as it triggers a memory he's tired for decades to forget of his father deliberately pouring boiling water on him in order to burn him.
• Tsundere: As a teenager, he was most often berating Lucius for breaking school rules, but behind the scenes he would get rather flustered whenever Lucius doted on him.
• Unable to Cry: Realises that he's shut off his emotions SO efficiently that he's unable to cry over Amethio's situation, even after Amethio's death. He doesn't cry until he reads Amethio's letter to him.
• Unfocused During Intimacy: With Tanzan, since he's not attracted to women. He feels bad about it though.
• Unknowingly in Love: With Lucius, initially. It took him a while to figure his emotions out.
• Villainous Breakdown: After getting accidentally triggered by Amethio and realising that he can't keep running away from his trauma, and that he's been horribly abusive towards his grandsons.
• What Have I Become?: When he finally realises how he's been mistreating his grandsons, he's horrified at himself.
• What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: Struggles with this. Especially when he questions if he was ever in love with Lucius in the first place.
• Workaholic: Done intentionally so that he can spend as much time away from home as possible. He absorbs himself in his work as a distraction from the real world and his own mind. During Amethio's last few weeks of life, while he's at home, Hamber and Friede manage to convince Gibeon to take some time off work — both so that he can be with Amethio, but also because Gibeon's far too distressed to focus on his job. This is the first time Gibeon's taken any time off work in his life, and he feels weird about it.
• Would Hurt a Child: Gibeon has physically hurt Amethio on a few occasions, and that's not to mention all the mental abuse and neglect he's subjected Amethio to over the years.
• Younger Than They Look: Looks much older than his mid 60s due to all the trauma.
