Kuron gradually developed a sense of self while spending time with Aru.
However, once he took over Kuromaku’s duties, he almost erased his own personality, covering himself with the creator’s traits instead. That was what unsettled Aru the most.

Kuron’s emotional responses were always slow at first.
He was too rational. It took him a long time to begin looking like a living person and that was precisely the part Aru cherished most about him.
Because in Waruland, they were taught not to think independently.
So when Kuron discarded his sense of self, Aru simply could not believe it.

SP:

My short headcanon:

I imagine Kuromaku created Kuron as a kind of “second self.”
Not a clone more like building another AI based on himself as the core model.

If Kuromaku were to die or meet with an accident, Kuron would automatically become the next “Kuromaku.”

That is why Kuromaku’s expectations for him differ from how other kings treat their deputies.

Kuromaku never restricted Kuron from developing a self.
But like Kuromaku, Kuron never believed that expressing individuality was necessary.

There were no restrictions but there was no guidance either.
(Kuromaku overlooked that part; emotional matters were never his strength.)

Even if Kuromaku asked, “What do you think?”
Kuron’s internal processing would still be:
“If this is your expectation, I will comply.”

That’s why I feel relieved that the people Kuron met were kind to him.
By the time he realizes it, a “self” will already have taken root in his heart.
