• These are based on my unreliable memories of watching the OVA SK8 Extra Part Advanced Screening in the theater for three times, and reading the reports of fans who attended the stage greetings (by VAs and producer Uryu).
• So this is an impression-based essay by a fan with the help of DeepL translation. The English translations, including the episode titles, were done by a fan. They are unauthorized and not related to the officials. I do not guarantee the accuracy.

[Chronological order of screening]

At the very beginning, there was a note: "Cast interviews will be on screen after the main stories!" I guess that means: "Don't leave the theater during the ending credits!"

[Digest of S1]

"Hey, you guys know S if you're here, right?" ... Reki started talking like that, directed to someone else (on the recording they seemed to be instructed to "talk to a macho guy", why...??), Reki and Langa introduce the main characters and recapitulating the story with movies from S1.
Since it was from Reki and Langa's POV, there was no mention of the Shindo family, Kiriko's investigation, or Kaoru and Kojiro talking in Sia la luce. Seems like a smart way to digest a story in a limited time.


The first scene was from the beginning of ep. 1, when Reki was skating the street at night with the main theme.

"I am Reki! I'm a 2nd grader at a high school and I work part-time for DOPE SHETCH. My hobby? Skateboarding, of course!" Reki introduced himself in such a compact way. Langa's was the scene in ep. 1: "I'm Hasegawa Langa. I'm from Canada."

And then they recalled the scene outside of Sakurayashiki calligraphy studio in ep. 1.

Langa: That was our first meeting...
Reki: No kidding, we already met in the classroom!
Langa: Haha, that's right! But it was the first time I met skateboarding.

On the other hand, Langa seemed to remember the first time he met Adam in ep. 3. He later said, "It was the first time I met Adam."

The introduction of each character was basically the same as we often see from the Official, such as "AI skater" or "the fastest six-pack", but I felt it was unusual that Miya was introduced by Langa as "a genius skater in junior high school". Isn't this the first time we've heard Langa refer to others as geniuses?

When introducing Joe, Langa corrected Reki's pronunciation of *muscle* in English, saying "Because I'm CanAYdian!"

Reki: I want to try that rocket style!
Langa: You don't have enough muscle for that.
Reki: I will gain the muscle from now on!

Hey Reki, Imo, with the help of Brother Joe and Coach Miya, you can build up enough muscle mass if you really put in the effort.

The BGM with the introduction of Adam was: Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata (3rd Movement)," the same music as Adam's dancing in the rain in the beginning of ep. 12. About our favorite "Dance of the Philos," we got to hear it in the scene of ep. 5, Adam trying out Love Hug on Langa.

Fortunately, the official X posted a glimpse of the Special Edited Video, so I tried to write down what was talked about Adam, from 1:28.

Reki: The last skater we introduce is the legend of S, Adam, the Matador of Love. He uses his amazing physical abilities and outlandish tricks that are not considered human abilities.
Langa: I was overwhelmed when I first had a beef with Adam...
Reki: He was a legendary skater who hasn't been in S for a long time. Uuh, it's scary to remember him now!
Langa: (His trick,) Love Hug...
Reki: He uses an incredible trick: skateboarding up a slope!
Langa: Adam's style of skating is, dancing...
Reki: ... and crash. You better stay away!


After the introduction of 5 skaters (Shadow, Miya, Cherry, Joe and Adam; no Snake), they started to talk about recapitulating the story, focusing on each beef. It was nice to rewatch the story of S1 with the comments of Reki and Langa!

Langa: (About ep. 1 beef) If I lost, would Reki have a tattoo of Dumpster Slut on his arm?
Reki: Langaaa...! I really appreciate you winning the beef.

So Langa had some interest in the bet on beef in S, interesting. But as far as I remember, he never asked Shadow for anything as a prize, even with Miya in ep. 3. Because he's generous? Or did he just forget about the bet? Perhaps out of gratitude for missing the punishment game, both Shadow and Miya were willing to join his training before the beef with Adam in ep. 5, Imao.

Reki: Miya is good at skating, his tricks are really great. But his skating does not seem to be fun...

Flashback to the scene in the gym where Miya and Taka-chan (with others) had a fight and split up.

Reki: This is just between us, but S skaters have the other faces during the day!
Langa: Reki, we should keep it a secret. We'll get a scolding from Cherry.

There we saw Joe serving Mr. Tamahana (ep. 2) and Cherry's AI calligraphy performance on the street (ep. 5). It was interesting to know that Langa cared about "getting a scolding from Cherry". As far as I remember, Joe didn't show them that he was being angry. So is this the difference between two adult skaters?

What we could see: Ep. 3 Miya warned Langa: "The railing there is broken, and you will fall!", and shortly after that "We won't leave you" by Reki. The end of ep. 4 Adam: "Next time, we can finally skate together, Langa-kun! (with a lovely smile)." Angel!Langa in religious paintings in ep. 5. No Miyakojima. Ep. 7 "We're not balancing out..."

Reki: Only Cherry and these three know what happened in their past.

Imao, Okouchi knows a lot about DK3's past, too. I'd love to see the story back then!! It's good to be able to see young Adam say "Your guys are special" with genuine smile in ep. 9, by the way.

Recaptulating S1 from Langa's POV, it's obvious that he always thought Reki was great. However, it's a pity to see their feelings grow apart.

From Reki, as you may know, he started to distance himself from Langa because he thought, "We don't balance each other." I think this time it was good that he was able to have a look back at what happened between them and realize, "I was able to remember the most important thing: skating is fun." With the scene when Reki hit Tadashi's forehead in the love hotel in ep. 10 (but Reki said nothing about the love hotel guy!).

And then, ep. 11 beef, Adam grabbed Reki and pushed him back against the rocks (Both Hatanaka and Kobayashi said that they liked this scene!), Reki made a big jump: "Wow! That's the scenery Langa always see...", and Adam fell down to the dirt.

Reki: In the final, Adam looked completely different from his usual style...

Oh yeah, so the S audience could accept Reaper!Adam in such a small explanation. What a wonderful world.

Reki: The course for the final was so dangerous. It looked as if Adam wanted him or his opponent to crash.

We could see Langa enter the zone, surrounded by white, fall down, see FUN on the board and grab the board. But we could not see Oliver. I think we could see Nanako somewhere, but she was not speaking.

The other scenes from ep. 12 were: Langa and Adam colliding body to body, Langa to Adam "Let's skate together". (Adam remembers that little Tadashi said the same words to him!), Adam's mask breaking and falling, Langa jumping to Reki when he finished the race.

And then, Langa was skating the street at night, met Reki: "Let's start our final!"

The screen went white and then faded to black with the large white "EXTRA PART" logo. Inside the logo, the silhouette of Reki skating from the right, Langa from the left.

[High school days of Kaoru and Kojiro]

In the classroom during English class, Kaoru stared out of the window. Kojiro rested his chin on the desk.

Kaoru: I feel... bored.
Kojiro: There's nothing I can be serious about.

They started a silly fight to decide who's the greater than the other, throwing erasers at each other, and it escalated into a brawl with paper airplanes, pencases, and thick dictionaries etc. flying around.
The bespectacled classmate, a girl with glasses, sitting in the corner of the classroom, caught in the middle of the fight between the two, stared at the kanji for "monkey" that Kaoru had written in his notebook. She seemed like a tough girl.
Eventually, both Kaoru and Kojiro held their desks over their heads and wanted to throw them at each other, but the English teacher stopped them by throwing chalk and scolding them: "Be quiet! (in English)"

In the next gym class, they decided to compete in physical fitness tests, such as the 50-meter dash and the handgrip strength test, which they won and lost several times.

The score before the last side-to-side jumping test was 7-7, so they said, "We can decide who is the winner in the next test." "Of course."

There was a classmate boy who looked like a little with Katsuki Yuuri on YOI, dark hair, wore glasses, looked modest and diligent. He was being a judge for their jumping test. Despite his efforts, Kaoru and Kojiro made too much noise during the jumping test.

Kojiro: Hey! You don't seem to be wearing the right contact lenses! (So you can't see around and you'll lose me, haha!)

Kaoru seemed to wear contact lenses when he was in high school.

Anyway, they didn't hear a classmate say, "Finished!", kept jumping, and the male gym teacher threw a bucket of water on them. As punishment, they were forced to do 300 squats.

As they left school, they passed a pair of elementary school kids. The redheaded boy (Little Reki!) was carrying the other boy, whose bangs were neatly trimmed (It’s the boy Reki mentioned in S1: "I have a friend who was badly injured, and quit skateboarding."). Reki held him on his back and two *randoserus* on each of his arms. They seemed to be playing a game, and Reki continued to lose for three times.

(This is a game played among elementary school students called "Randoseru Janken". After leaving school, the group of students would play rock-paper-scissors (= janken). The loser carries everyone's randoserus to the nearest telephone pole along the street. In Japan, poles are usually placed every 30 to 50 meters along the street, which is a good distance for kids. This time they played it with two kids and seemed to have a rule: Play janken at every traffic light, and the loser had to carry two randoserus and the other on their back.)

The friend teased Reki, whose eyes were wet with tears, and Reki said in frustration: "I won't lose next time!"

Kojiro: "I guess these kids have no worries."
Kaoru: "Yeah, it's amazing how kids can take things so seriously."
Kojiro: "It means nothing, even if you win the game..."

They entered the ramen shop, which seemed to be the same one where Reki and Langa met Joe in ep. 4 of S1. They took on the challenge of eating a large bowl of ramen with too many toppings, including karaage, with a time limit of 10 minutes.

Btw, the name of the ramen was "老若男女抱腹絶倒ラーメン", a combination of two four-character idioms, "老若男女 (men and women of all ages)" and "抱腹絶倒 (rolling on the floor laughing)" + ramen.

I think it must have been named something with the meaning of the word and the momentum of the phrase. If I were to venture to find the meaning, I think it would be something like, "Whoever you are, this bowl of ramen is enough to make you surrender, lol."

They ate it like a food fighter anime and finished eating almost at the same time, feeling disgusted. However, still they could not see "who's the greater," and they felt empty.

Kaoru: "Seriously, there's nothing we can do to get serious..."

Kaoru looked up and saw a poster on the ramen shop that said "Have A Good Day" and the silhouette of a skater jumping on his board against the light.

Kojiro: Um, skateboarding? Have you ever tried it?
Kaoru: No, never.
Kojiro: Me neither.
Kaoru: Yesterday, I saw some guys skating.
Kojiro: I heard a rumour that there's a great skater in town. His name is Ada... Ada... Adachi? (Adachi is one of the popular family name in Japan)

They parted in front of a ramen shop. But then they met again in front of the Dope Sketch, which looked the same as in S1 (No Oka shown).

(That's how they got into skateboarding. Then they must have met Adam somehow and gotten close to him? Imo, they might be surprised to know that someone they thought was Adachi-kun or something has a name Adam, with a cool combination of kanjis, and be more attracted to him. The S race, where "who won?" could be decided, may have been partly their idea?)

(In the end credits, little Reki and his friend were shown as "The 3rd graders of elementary school". Unfortunately, I could not catch the friend's name in single kanji. In S1, he was in the 2nd year of high school, so the OVA story was 8 years before S1? If it's 8 years before, then Kaoru and Kojiro were in the 3rd year of high school. Their grade was not clearly shown in the story, as far as I remember.)
