[Fanfic] SuiYo - Frustratingly Cute

School setting.
Suggestive but nothing too explicit.
Typical SuiYo stuck in a locker trope.
This is a revised version of the fanfic I wrote months ago. I fixed a couple of grammar mistakes but I’m too ESL to tell my errors anyways.

During the initial draft, I've thought of going full lewd because it's the classic locker trope but I didn't know how to go about it so the best I could do was Sui failing to kiss Yo TWICE at close proximity.

Just a stupid argument.

It was normal for friends to butt heads once in a while and this time wasn’t supposed to be any different. But just like mountain goats, boys with difficult personalities often get themselves stuck with their horns hooked together.

Sui Yakumo, local hothead, was a stubborn boy, but an even bigger stubborn bastard was his childhood friend, Yo Kuronaka.

At first, the two boys were alone together in their classroom. The final class' bell had long since rung, and the halls of Meguro High were quiet, save for the distant echo of shoes squeaking on polished floors.

Just moments ago, they’d been laughing while tossing the chalkboard eraser back and forth, childishly emulating an XB match. Yo was usually strict about finishing up his classroom duties, but he'd always loosen up whenever Sui was around. They've long formed a habit to leave school together with their third childhood friend, Tsuki Iroha. Today in particular however, the twin tail girl was down with a cold and was not present at school.

As much as Yo enjoyed spending time with him, Sui also had a knack for grating on his nerves, especially when the redhead seemed to forget to watch his tongue. Maybe Sui had pushed his teasing too far this time; maybe he said something too hurtful . Either way, the two of them had quickly spiraled into an argument.

So in a fit of frustration, Yo threw the chalkboard eraser at a desk. The sheer force of the throw caused it to bounce violently off the desk’s surface, and flew straight towards a nearby window.

The eraser missile missed Sui’s head by mere inches. The window behind him shattered with a sharp, violent crack.

Sui turned to Yo, exasperated.

“Seriously- were you trying to kill me?!”

Yo glanced at the shards of glass now littering the floor near Sui’s feet.

“It bounced,” Yo said flatly.

“I didn’t think it’d hit that hard.”

His face remained stoic, but Sui could see the tight line of a small frown beneath his monochrome bangs. Yo was visibly upset and Sui knew this tension wouldn’t settle until one of them apologized.

Too bad neither of them was built for that.

Sui’s arrogance was just as bad as Yo’s temper.

To Sui, Yo was the type of person who would add cold water to a carbonated soda because it was too sweet. A serious bastard through and through. And Sui? He couldn't stand backing down, especially to someone who hardly ever cracks. Sui was someone who could walk off the pain after getting hit by a car, someone who could withstand a blow to the head with a baseball bat. But most days spent training for XB was dreadful to his ego, because Yo was a monster both in XB and his tantrum.

Seriously, how the hell did Yo store all that power in those lanky arms of his?

Sui turned to face the damage and jabbed a finger toward the broken window.

“That wasn’t a bounce. That was a full-on shot!”

Yo crossed his arms, the baggy sleeves of his school cardigan swallowed his pale hands.

“I didn't throw it directly. You saw it. ”

His voice was low, quiet, enough to drain all the heat from the air between them. The tension made Sui’s scalp prickle.

“Man...what got you so damn mad? ” Sui muttered, scratching the back of his head.

Before Yo could retort, an unmistakable click of the hallway door echoed outside the classroom. Heavy footsteps followed, sounded too heavy to be just one person.

“Crap,” Sui whispered. “Someone's coming!”

Yo’s head snapped toward the sound.

But before he could react any further, Sui hooked an arm around his shoulders, dragging him along to his momentum. They darted across the room, dodging glass and overturned chairs, and then Sui flung open the tall janitor locker in the back corner of the classroom. It was barely wide enough for one person, let alone two high school boys bundled in their winter school uniform.

“In here?!” Yo halted his step, protesting the idea.

“Shh!” Sui hissed, pushing Yo into the cramped space before slotting himself in the space behind the shorter boy.
In quick succession, Sui reached out and closed the locker door.

In the small space, Sui and Yo's limbs slotted in every available inch, pushing the cleaning tools further back.

“We’ll just hide for a bit,” Sui whispered, his left arm then settling beside Yo’s forearm.

Because of the cramped space, Sui’s chest was pressed flush against Yo’s back, and their height difference became more obvious as Sui had to bend his knees slightly to avoid his head from hitting the top of the locker. The maneuver Sui pulled earlier was too sudden, Yo’s left palm was planted on the walls of the locker, causing his elbow to face Sui’s ribs.

The protrusion made Sui instantly ache.

“Hey, your elbow is stabbing my ribs,” Sui whispered as he pushed Yo's elbow to straighten his arm. His warm breath startled the shorter boy.

Unaware of Yo's reaction however, Sui placed his focus on the lined gaps on the locker's door, his serious light blue eyes darted through the gap.

And as predicted, seconds later, the classroom door slid open.
Several voices echoed into the room.

“What the?” a girl’s voice rang out.

“So that’s what that sound was,” another added, puzzled.

Footsteps crossed the room and stopped near the broken window. Sui peeked out and counted three girls examining the messy scene.

“Did a stray ball hit it?”

“Could be. Look at that hole! Something hit it hard.”

Inside the stuffy locker, Yo shifted his head, intending to also take a peek. Immediately in response, Sui leaned forward so their faces could meet. The motion pushed Yo’s cheek close to Sui’s collarbone, causing the former to glance upwards in response.

Sui then brought a finger to his lips and shook his head, eyes firm: Don’t. Even. Move.

Yo’s eyes widened, a blush slowly creeping across his face. The proximity was a little too intense for him. The two of them were so close together that Yo could see the prominent canines peeking through Sui’s pressed lips.

The girls’ voices outside became muffled as Yo lost focus. He could only hear his own heartbeat thudding in his ears, momentarily forgetting that he was actually supposed to be mad at Sui.

...

Several minutes passed, but the girls remained nearby, debating whether to report the broken window to a teacher. Sui shifted his legs slightly, the cramped position finally catching up to him. His muscles ached, and the tight space felt suffocating. The smell of wet rags began to irritate his nose and with not a lot of ventilation, sweat had also already soaked through his inner shirt.

Why were the girls still loitering?!

Feeling uncomfortable, Sui slowly leaned forward to straighten his knees. He was gonna have to press against Yo but this was the serious bastard's fault in the first place so he had no choice but to deal with it. But as he moved, Yo felt the friction of Sui’s crotch press against him from behind.

Isn't this the locker trope that Tsuki talked about in a romcom manga she read the other day? Yo pondered in his mind.

Feeling slightly suffocated by Sui pressing against him, Yo tried to shift forward as his only option was to fully press his chest against the cold metal wall of the locker. But his attempt backfired as the motion also pushed his backside further into Sui.

“Hey-” Sui whispered through gritted teeth. "Don’t move too much. They’ll hear us.”

Yo turned his face toward the corner of the locker, trying to hide away further into the shadows. Even with the limited light, Sui could clearly see Yo’s flushed neck glistening with sweat. He raised an eyebrow, watching Yo try, very unsuccessfully, to shrink away from him.

In a barely audible voice, Yo muttered, "It’s uncomfortable

A sudden flash of realization hit Sui. Suddenly he became hyper-aware of how the locker felt impossibly small, his body pressed tight against Yo's smaller frame with no mercy of space between them. Exposed parts of their skin, uncovered by their school uniform touched each other, surface sticky with sweat due to the humidity inside their hiding space. Yo’s skin was warm to the touch and his shrinking figure looked so innocently meek to Sui.

For a short moment, they both stood still, the air between them became thick with unspoken things. The silence being an odd contrast to how moments ago, they were arguing like idiots in the classroom over something pointless.

There was a sharpness to this silence, a tension that hung in the space between Yo's breaths. The chattering sound of the girls from beyond the locker door was forgotten.

But then, maybe due to the suffocating heat, Yo had to retreat and lean his head back in place, he breathed in, seeking for air. In that lean back, Yo’s body pushed against Sui’s chest, and in that moment, Sui couldn't ignore that odd feeling in his gut anymore. Not when he also noticed Yo's damped hair was sticking to his red cheeks.

Sui swallowed hard and turned his attention back to the gaps on the locker's door. It didn’t feel right to stare. Yo’s vulnerability wasn’t something to ogle at, no matter how difficult he could be to deal with sometimes. Still, Sui couldn’t deny it: he’d always found Yo attractive. From that striking two-tone hair to the single piercing on his left ear, and even the oversized sleeves that draped past his handsYo pulled it all off effortlessly. Not anyone could just make a look like that work.

They had grown up together since they were kids, but Sui knew his feelings for Yo couldn’t be brushed off as just a “best friends” kind of thing. If anything, it would’ve made more sense to feel that way about Tsuki. But even before puberty hit, Sui had already learned to tell the differencethe way he liked Tsuki was different than how he liked Yo. He dreamt of Yo in scenes he could never admit even if the world tries to pry it out of him.

“Hey, wanna hit the arcade after we stop by the teacher’s lounge?” one of the girls called out, her voice snapping both of the hiding boys' attention back in place.

Their footsteps drifted away, the echo of their conversation fading into the corridor.

As if the tension had evaporated along with the girls’ departure, Yo exhaled a long, frustrated breath.

“Finally. Let’s get out, I'm drenched in sweat,” he muttered, dragging his hand toward the locker handle.

But Sui didn’t budge.

He stayed rooted in place, shoulders tight, body blocking Yo's movement.

Yo blinked, confused, about to push past when Sui suddenly lunged forward, their faces meeting against each other in an instant.

In a single, impulsive motion, Sui leaned in and pressed his mouth to the corner of Yo’s lips. His heart pounded in his ears. He hadn’t planned this move.

It was a reckless move that made him miss Yo's entire mouth. But in that cramped space, with their bodies practically fused and the heat of his own thoughts boiling over, something just snapped within Sui.

Startled by the sudden press of Sui’s lips, Yo’s body jerked, his breath catching sharply. He barely managed a shaky, “What-” before Sui cut him off, tracing his tongue slowly across Yo’s left cheek, leaving a faint warmth in its trail. The unexpected gesture sent a jolt through Yo, a mix of surprise and something unspoken flickering in his eyes. He instinctively recoiled, his balance slipping for a moment, but Sui’s hands found his waist, steadying him with a firm, unyielding hold.

After the storm that was Sui’s attempt at a kiss, Yo turned back to his best friend with a gaze caught somewhere between disbelief and wonder. Blue eyes met another set of blue, like twin shooting stars crossing over the dark mirror of a midnight sea.

“What was that for?” Yo breathed out a question, his voice sounded more exasperated than he intended.

Sui let out a quiet groan before pressing his face into Yo’s shoulder, arms sliding around him in a slow, grounding hug.

“I’m sorry, okay?” he murmured, voice muffled against Yo’s neck. “I didn’t mean to upset you.”

The sudden affection made Yo hesitate. Did he licked him as an apology?

Really, why was he even upset at him in the first place?

Yo should've known how Sui was as a person.

Just like him, Sui was also not the type to hold his passion back. Not the fights, not the training, not the way he protected what mattered.

Resilient to the bone, fists like fire, heart like iron. He used to curse Yo out mid-battle, wild grin beneath sweaty red bangs, then offer his hand when it was over.

Yo let his head fall gently against Sui’s, his breath warming the crown of slicked-back red hair.

“I’ll be even more upset if we stay crammed in this locker any longer."

“Okay, okay~” Sui gave a reluctant laugh, lifting his head and then cracking the locker door open.

A rush of cool air spilled in, brushing their skin and chasing away the close, sticky heat. Both boys then stepped out of the crammed locker. However, as soon as Sui tried to walk away, a sudden tug to his sleeve halted him in place. In a blur of motion, he could feel something warm touching his jaw in a quick flash.

Sui touched at the lingering warmth and turned around with a surprise expression. Yo was looking back at him with knitted brows, his face flushed red and sweaty.

“Did you? “

“I missed. Because you're too tall. “

At Yo’s sulking words, Sui let out a hearty laugh. That short stunt was Yo’s feeble attempt to kiss him, and he also failed.

It was so cute that Sui wanted to punch him. But instead of succumbing to his cute aggression, he reached out and held Yo’s hand firmly into his own.

"Hey, let’s make a run for it before anyone comes back,” Sui whispered to Yo's ear, a wide, boyish grin tugging at his lips.

The latter didn’t answer, just gave a small, sure nod.

And in the next second, they were running.

The classroom door slid open and their feet pounded down the hallway, shoes thudding against the floor in tandem.

Sui and Yo's hands stayed locked and tight together, reveling in the moment of juvenile mischief as they left the broken window behind for someone else to fix.
