Q. How are secondary and tertiary fanworks of Ichigomilk Mare handled?
A brief summary of the background is provided below.
In the case of “Ichigomilk Mare,” it was understood to fall under what is often referred to as a tertiary fanwork, that is, a derivative work based on a secondary fanwork.
For that reason, I contacted the creator in order to confirm whether activities such as creating and distributing doujin books or doujin goods were permitted.
As a result, I was told that
all creative activities, including secondary and tertiary fanworks, were not permitted, and I was also asked to delete previously published works or make them non-public.
The creator specifically mentioned the following two points:
- Creation and distribution of doujin books and goods
(This includes production and publication intended for public release or distribution, whether paid or unpaid.)
- Creative works related to Ichigomilk Mare
(This includes character design, profile settings, stories, and developing relationships between characters, among other things.)
